The Footstars Coaching Team

Guy Hayes - Managing Director

Guy is experienced in coaching children from the ages of preschool all the way through to adults. Among many coaching qualifications Guy is a UEFA B coach and holds the FA Youth Modules 1,2 and 3, FA Mentoring adults, Street Soccer and fdsc in Sports Coaching and Development. He is one of three licensed coaches in Suffolk to hold the FA Futsal Level 2 (as of April 2015).

Guy currently works for a local professional football club as an Academy Coach having previously worked with Peterborough United and Norwich City in various roles.
In senior football, Guy is manager of Team Bury in the Thurlow Nunn First Division. Experience working with semi-pro clubs Ipswich Wanderers FC as reserve team manager and first team coach of Stowmarket Town FC.

Josh Dowsing - Sports Development Officer

Josh is an experienced schools coach having worked with various schools across the county. He holds numerous Level 2 coaching qualifications which ensures quality coaching across the entire national physical education curriculum. Josh's coaching engages children of all age and abilities to enhace their learning and enjoyment through fun and challenging activities. As part of Josh's role, he is the point of contact for trials at our Player Development Centre and runs Footstars popular holiday courses. He is currently manager of an Under 9s team and has playing experience at Thurlow Nunn level.

Jodie Deasy - Project Coordinator

Jodie is our Project Coordinator with the main responsibility to source and acquire applicable grants available to Footstars. Administration support and fundraising initiatives will also be her key areas. She has over 15 years’ experience working in the financial sector in various companies and has been involved in numerous successful bids/donations for small charities/organisations.

Jason Hadley - Head Coach

Jason is a highly experienced coach having worked across America delivering soccer clinics across the country. A UEFA B licensed coach, Jason has experience working with all age groups both at primary and high school. His sessions epitomises professionalism challenging players technical, tactical, social and physical attributes.
Jason heads the Footstars Schools Programme and coaches at various Footstars sessions throughout the week.

Joe Yaxley - Coach

Joe is a UEFA B coach with experience working with the older age groups having coached at West Suffolk College Sports Academy while completing his Teacher Training. Joe's energetic manner helps drive the PDC's player focus and sets out expectations both in and out of possesion. A talented player in non league football, Joe has experience playing for Ryman club Bury Town.

David Shore - Coach

David is an experienced FA Qualified coach, delivering sessions to 2.5 -11 year
 olds. David is also manager of Ipswich Valley Rangers Under 11s where has coached them for the last 4 seasons. David has an excllent manner with the children, promoting technical excellence in all his sessions. A talented local player, David has played for various SIL Senior clubs including one of our partner clubs Ipswich Athletic.

Josh Gibbons - Coach 


Josh is a FA Qualified coach having worked with 7-10 year olds previously. Previous grassroots clubs include Ipswich Valley Rangers and Witnisham Wasps FC. Josh has a great desire for developing technically efficient players which matches the Footstars philosophy. His thoroughly planned sessions ensure all children enjoy his sessions while providing progressive learning each week.


Matt Talman - Coach

Matt delivers a range of sports as part of our school sports programmee. Matt is also a FA qualified goal keeper coach, having a playing background as a goal keeper in Suffolk. His sessions are always full of praise and encouragement, developing players technique and skills in a fun challenging enviornment. Goal keeper sessions are a high tempo demanding focus and excellence at all times. 

Ross Sharplin - Apprentice Coach

Ross is a young upcoming coach who shows great enthusiasm to inspire children in sport. He has an excellent manner with children through his postive engagement and encouragement. Ross assists at our Goal Keeper Development Centre, with a strong pedigree playing county level for Suffolk and trials at professional football clubs.
